Mumps: Are You Protected? By:

Fri, Jan 23
Mumps is a contagious viral illness that can have serious complications in young adults. To prevent yourself from getting sick or hospitalized it is very important to make sure that you have been vaccinated. The Ontario Ministry of Health and Long-Term Care is implementing a Mumps Catch-Up Vaccination Program. The vaccine being offered is called MMR and provides protection against measles, mumps, and rubella. Students in Colleges and University seem to be at greater risk of infection as demonstrated in the Maritime Provinces. People born between 1970 and 1991 may be at risk of mumps and need a booster mumps vaccine. The website below gives more complete details about the mumps and the "Catch-UP" clinic.
Bring your Green Shield (OHIP equivalent) card and /or UwinCARD, driver's license, passport - to receive your immunization.
Vaccinations are free and available at your doctor’s office, walk-in clinics, and at campus catch-up clinics.
